Come for a Visit

We have an ‘open door’ policy at Apricot. So, you are welcome to visit us at any time during the working week for an accompanied viewing. Are you’re considering childcare or a pre-school place for your baby, toddler or young child? A visit would be an excellent way to see our set-up in action during the normal working day. We would love you to visit so you can take a look for yourself. You’ll be able to chat to the staff, see how happy the children are and ask any questions you like. We’re here to serve children and parents to our very best ability. So, all queries are more than welcome at Apricot.

Our Curriculum and ‘Key Person’ System

Our excellent curriculum centres around the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which is designed to educate through play and activities which are not only educational, but fun and engaging too. It’s a great way to learn.

Our ‘key person’ system reinforces and supports the EYFS approach. It also allows us to work closely with parents and, of course, with the babies, toddlers and young children themselves. Your child’s key person will plan key experiences for your child, based on their interests and abilities. They will also monitor your child’s progress and the various milestones they reach during their time with us. Our regular feedback from this will allow parents and guardians to understand the child’s progress virtually in real time.

We cannot, however, over-stress the importance of parents’ own contributions towards the learning process; close parental involvement in any child’s education is known to be of particular importance to them.

High Quality, Healthy Food Menus

We prepare high quality, healthy food on the premises for the children each day. Our in-house chefs and cooks use ingredients that are incredibly fresh. We even grow some of them in our very own vegetable garden along with eggs that we harvest from our own on-site chicken coop. The children love seeing the vegetables growing and the chickens laying eggs!

30 Hours Free Childcare Initiative

Apricot also supports the Government’s ‘30 hours free childcare‘ initiative. The scheme applies to children aged three to four and began in September 2017. If you are a working UK parent and are eligible for this free childcare, all you have to do is fill in some forms. We’ll then be happy to apply on your behalf — it’s simple! You can find more information about free childcare and our funding opportunities here.

Holiday and Out of School Clubs

If you have older children, check out our ‘Jumping Jacks’ Holiday and Out of School clubs. Apricot runs these initiatives but they are located within the local Big Sky Soft Play Centre. The clubs are OfSTED registered. They offer childcare for children up to the age of 11 during holiday times, before school or after school.

Children get to enjoy a large variety of fun-packed games and activities. These include painting, baking, dressing up, jigsaws, board games and computer games and we even organise some trips for them. Healthy snacks and unlimited juice are all part of the service we provide. Additionally, we can supply a healthy lunch for a small extra cost. This is ideal for those who do not bring their own packed lunch. For more information about the Holiday & Out of School Club and the Before & After School Club, please click here.
